Three photography zines you need to see (March 2023)

Another zine haul from the library! The theme this week was photography. My lovely boyfriend picked these out for me, and I am so glad he did because I discovered some great zines I might not have picked out myself. So if you are a fan of photography, read on!

“Can I take your picture?” By Alavia Horsley (2022)

This zine is a collection of doodles and drawings of adorable characters drawn over photographs. I adore Horsley’s playful drawing style. This was a short but fun zine that I could see myself gifting to a friend.

“Passerby: San Francisco” Issue No.2 by Austin Alfaro and Janett Perez (2019)

“Passerby” is a zine filled with photographs taken around San Francisco by Alfaro and Perez. The photographs were so intimate, and each photographer found interesting angles to shoot from that highlight the uniqueness of the city and all the people inside.

“Romneya Drive” by Francisco Aviles Pino and William Camargo (2019)

By far my favorite zine of the week, “Romneya Drive” is such a clear labor of love. Camargo and Aviles Pino crafted such a deeply personal collection of photographs and poems of their experience living in Anaheim with their family. The poems were gorgeous and this was such a touching zine.
